We at Fundis have been fortunate to welcome an energetic and enthusiastic summer employee, Saara, to help us during the final weeks of July! Saara shared her thoughts on her first workplace and Fundis from a competitive athlete’s perspective.
“I’m Saara, a 16-year-old student and competitive athlete. I was part of the Fundis team for two weeks in July and got to explore the startup world. During that time, I learned what all goes into running a company. I expected these work weeks to bring new learning and experience for the future. My tasks were varied and I learned a lot across many different areas. It was amazing to join a team whose values are also important topics for me.
I do gymnastics myself, and especially as a young athlete, the idea of easy fundraising is really interesting. During my own athletic career, I’ve helped several times at team sales events or other activities to raise money for things like international training camps and competitions. I think it’s incredible that there’s a way for young people to get support for their hobbies without the traditional labor-intensive methods.
In a short time, I learned a lot about how a company operates and how it can have an impact on issues that matter to society. It was a pleasure to take my first steps into working life at Fundis!”
