Kympin Lapset provides support during and after serious illness
Each year in Finland, approximately 160 children or young people are diagnosed with cancer. Support is needed during treatment, while recovering from the illness, and often in the years following cancer. Unfortunately, one in seven children or young people still does not survive the disease. Kympin Lapset also provides support in situations where a child has passed away from cancer. Kympin Lapset’s activities involve over 2,000 participants annually.
Kympin Lapset supports childhood cancer patients and their families by offering activities that promote psychological, social, and physical well-being. The work emphasizes a family-centered approach. When a child falls ill, it significantly affects the entire family and their daily life.
Kympin Lapset’s activities would not be possible on their current scale without the charitable efforts of businesses and individuals. Through donations, the activities can be significantly maintained and strengthened, and high-quality, impactful peer support can be provided to patient families.
“Kympin Lapset does truly important work with children and families in difficult situations. We at Fundis are delighted to be able to support it in our own way,” comments Fundis CEO Seppo Kuusinen about the new partner.
“Fundis offers a completely new kind of opportunity for doing good and makes it easy too! It’s wonderful to join the network. Together we offer everyone the opportunity to help,” says Kympin Lapset’s Executive Director Anu Tikka.
